Changing Your Mindset

Since this is the first post I’m doing for this blog, I want to make one thing very clear. I’m going to be transparent; you will be reading my full opinion on these subjects. Some of the things I want to talk about in this blog are close to home for me, but I want to cover a lot of topics so I will try to keep myself from rambling on too much. With that being said, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this and I hope that it will give you some kind of impact.

The first and foremost thing that I want to talk to you all about is something I didn’t realize I was “struggling” with in grand scheme of things, self-confidence. Now, when I say “struggling” I don’t consider myself an introvert nor do I believe I have any poor emotional status that drives me to call it a struggle. I say that I recently have seen the struggle I’ve had in my own self-confidence simply from my own persona in my career that I have been unknowingly attached to. For some of you reading this starting your first professional job, maybe you’ll know where I’m coming from, but I became almost afraid of voicing my opinion in a meeting, discussion, or whatever situation that I can come up with. I believed that in my head that the opinions I have weren’t good enough to share and that I didn’t know what I was talking about due to my age. I became afraid to say anything in these situations because of judgement that may or may not have happened. The hard truth is though, that if I shared my ideas and collaborated I’d gain nothing whereas I could share my ideas and yea there could be judgement, but the opinions of others shouldn’t be something that stops me from doing something. No one knows my story completely. Yes they might have seen some of the chapters and used the pieces to make a story, but no one knows another person’s story.

Getting out of the mindset of “it’s not good enough” is difficult, but if you don’t try then you’ve already lost. I believe that because we have grown so accustomed to the negative atmosphere of our society from the different factors in our lives that some of us have lost the will to try anything out of fear of what someone might say. Everyone can bring something new to the table. I know this because we all come from different backgrounds. Different stories. Different outlooks. No two people on this planet share the exact same life and that makes each individual person unique in some way. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and the sooner we learn to utilize and learn from them the better off we are.

I hope that through this blog, someone out there that might be going through the same situation can gain something from this to make a change in their lives too. To those people and everyone else, please feel free to email me if you want to talk more.
