My Story

My story in photography began three years ago. I was just starting college at Texas A&M University - Commerce, and working towards my bachelor’s degree in marketing. At the beginning of my college career, I really got to see just how expensive pursuing a degree was. I had gotten a few scholarships, but I still needed extra money, so I took it upon myself to start a business... I mean how hard could it be?

I quickly learned that most of the business opportunities I wanted to start would probably end up making me lose money instead of earn any. I stumbled upon one of those common internet articles about “Top 10 ways for you to make extra money” and photography was one of the top choices (according to this random internet person!). With my new knowledge about getting rich, I found a camera on Ebay and got to work.

I started off just trying to learn how everything worked together in order to make a picture, then I moved up into the ranks of portrait photography. I probably jumped too quick into it, but people still let me practice (and I was eager to get started). My poor wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, trusted me enough as a photographer to do her senior pictures (which I still feel sorry about because I was still pretty terrible with a camera at that point). I got to a point where I was feeling more confident, and my pictures started to improve.

A few months went by and my sister decided she wanted me to do the photography for her wedding, which terrified me, but I was ready for the challenge. The wedding came and I somehow made it through with the shots that my sister wanted. Since then I have been booking as many sessions as I can and taking photography classes at my university to enhance my skills even further.

I’ve been lucky enough to have gotten to work alongside some really incredible people and learn from them just the same. I realized through photography that our world is filled with truly incredible moments and from an outside perspective those moments are amplified. Seeing things like the true love two people have for each other on their wedding day and having no deep personal connection with them at all is a really beautiful thing.
